Substitute Teacher / Social Studies

The teacher fosters critical thinking, cultural awareness, civic responsibility, and analytical skills while aligning instruction with state and district standards. The position promotes a positive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and appreciation of diverse perspectives and historical experiences.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district Social Studies curriculum.Teach a variety of social studies subjects, including history, geography, civics, government, economics, and cultural studies.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate.Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.Use evidence-based classroom management strategies to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.Use evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure effective instruction, high student engagement, and continuous improvement in student performance.Facilitate discussions and activities that promote critical thinking, inquiry, research, and analysis of historical and current events.Encourage civic engagement, cultural understanding, and responsible citizenship.Incorporate a variety of instructional resources, technology tools, primary and secondary sources, and multimedia materials to enhance learning.Support students in developing research, writing, presentation, and analytical skills.Prepare students for assessments, academic competitions, community projects, and civic engagement opportunities, as appropriate.Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with school policies.Sponsor or assist with social studies-related extracurricular activities or clubs, as assigned.All other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Social Studies 7-12 requiredSubmission of pre-employment medical examinationSubmission of the following clearances:Pennsylvania State Criminal History RecordPennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History ClearancesFederal Background Check (Fingerprints)* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptableApplications will be accepted until the position is filled.You are navigating off of REAP site to the district's posting.OK
