Strategic Tax Director for FinTech & M&A
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a highly qualified Tax Director to serve as the primary tax resource for a growing financial technology company. This person will own the full scope of tax compliance and reporting, while partnering closely with the Head of Tax on strategic planning, cross-entity matters, and key initiatives. The Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with ASC 740, supporting tax planning efforts, contributing to M&A activity, and optimizing federal and state tax positions to achieve the company’s financial objectives. The ideal candidate is a seasoned tax accountant who thrives as a hands-on owner of the compliance and reporting function, brings deep expertise in corporate and partnership taxation, and has the experience and judgment to operate independently on day-to-day tax matters while collaborating with the Head of Tax on strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
Own all federal, state, and international tax compliance (corporate + partnership filings)
Lead ASC 740 tax provision preparation and reporting (quarterly + annual)
Manage tax audits, regulatory interactions, and issue resolution
Drive tax planning strategies to optimize structure, reduce risk, and improve efficiencies
Analyze tax implications of new business initiatives, entity structuring, and expansions
Support M&A transactions (due diligence, structuring, modeling, integration)
Own tax cash forecasting and partner with Finance/Treasury on payments and planning
Implement and optimize tax technology (e.g., OneSource) and automation efforts
Act as primary tax partner to Accounting, Finance, Legal, and business teams
Manage external advisors and ensure deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met

Skills and Requirements
10+ years of corporate tax experience, coming from a Big 4 background
Strong expertise in ASC 740 tax provision and reporting
Experience in financial services, technology, or fintech
Deep knowledge of federal and state income tax compliance
Experience with corporate and partnership taxation
Proven ability to own end-to-end tax function independently
Experience managing tax audits and regulatory processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Accounting
Proficiency with tax software tools, experience with OneSource or similar tax platforms - CPA and/or MST
Exposure to partnership structures and pass-through entities
Knowledge of tax treatment for financial products (derivatives, options, securities lending)
M&A experience (due diligence, structuring, integration)
Background in multi-entity or complex organizational structures
Experience driving tax automation or process improvements
