Job Title: Millwork Engineer / DrafterClient Type: Architectural Woodworking & Custom Millwork FirmLocation: RemoteEmployment Type: Full-timeAbout Our ClientWe have partnered with a premier architectural woodworking and custom millwork firm known for delivering high-end commercial and residential interior packages. They are seeking a detailed-oriented Millwork Engineer to bridge the gap between architectural designs and shop-floor fabrication by developing precise technical production drawings and material cut lists.Position SummaryThe Millwork Engineer will transform complex architectural drawings, interior design concepts, and field measurements into complete, production-ready shop drawings and engineering submittals. This role requires extensive knowledge of custom joinery, AWI standards, wood species, hardware hardware integration, and CNC machining processes.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate detailed 2D/3D shop drawings, submittal packages, and elevation/section details using AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or Microvellum.Generate complete Bill of Materials (BOM), hardware callouts, veneer/hardwood yield lists, and CNC machining files (G-code/nested patterns) for the shop floor.Review architectural specifications, structural details, and field dimensions to identify conflicts, tolerances, or constructability issues prior to production.Partner with Project Managers, Shop Supervisors, and Installers to resolve engineering challenges and streamline fabrication methods.Ensure all engineering submittals adhere strictly to AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) quality standards and project specs.Qualifications & Requirements3+ years of dedicated engineering, drafting, or detailing experience within an architectural woodworking or custom commercial millwork environment.High proficiency in AutoCAD (Microvellum or Cabinet Vision strongly preferred); familiarity with Alphacam or WoodWOP is a plus.Deep knowledge of custom joinery techniques, veneer matching, hardware integration, architectural metals/glass inserts, and wood finishing methods.Exceptional ability to interpret complex architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and designer specifications.High attention to detail with proven ability to produce clear, error-free shop submittals under tight project deadlines.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary commensurate with experienceComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company matchPaid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
