Position OverviewOur client is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support the engineering and production team. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with strong attention to detail, who is eager to learn specialized equipment and processes in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This position will work closely with a lead engineer, supporting production activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and learning to operate and program automated machinery.Key ResponsibilitiesLearn and support the process, including setup, operation, and inspectionPerform microscope inspections to evaluate wire quality and ensure precision standards are metLoad parts, follow engineering drawings and work instructions, and verify correct materials and configurationsAssist with machine setup and basic programming (selecting programs, adjusting settings, running production lots)Troubleshoot equipment issues and support resolution, especially during production runsMaintain accurate documentation using lot travelers and production recordsWork extensively in a cleanroom environment with full PPEDay-to-Day Breakdown~75% hands-on equipment operation (loading parts, wire threading, inspections under microscope)Learning to measure, inspect, and validate small, delicate componentsSupporting engineers with process improvements and production flowRequired QualificationsExperience with automated equipment or machine interfaces (manufacturing or lab environment)Strong manual dexterity – ability to handle very small components using tweezers and tools under a microscopeFamiliarity with production environments and workflow (machine operation, product flow, work instructions)Comfortable working with computers and navigating machine interfaces for basic programming/setupAbility to follow detailed instructions and problem-solve independentlyPreferred QualificationsExperience working under a microscopeExposure to GD&T or engineering drawingsExperience using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)Previous work with wire bonding or semiconductor equipment (Datacon, K&S, Hess, etc.)Additional DetailsFull cleanroom PPE required (face covering, gowning, limited exposure)High level of precision required – handling very fine wires and sensitive componentsOpen to candidates with a high school diploma or associate’s degree; engineering background is a plusJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.75 - $25.75/hr.RequirementsEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
