Staff Accountant

About the RoleWe are conducting a search on behalf of our client for a detail-oriented and collaborative Staff Accountant . This role supports core accounting operations and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data.The position is responsible for general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. In addition, the role plays a key part in travel and expense (T&E) management, sales and use tax compliance, audit support, and customer master data governance.The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesEssential job functions include, but are not limited to:General Accounting & Close ProcessPrepare and post journal entries to the general ledgerReconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and balance sheet accountsAssist with month-end and year-end close processesEnsure accuracy and completeness of financial recordsAudit & ComplianceSupport internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanationsMaintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controlsTravel & Expense (T&E) ManagementReview and process employee expense reports for accuracy and policy complianceEnsure timely reimbursement of employee expensesAudit reports for discrepancies, missing documentation, or policy violationsManage corporate credit card transactions and reconciliationsAnalyze T&E spending trends and recommend improvementsSales & Use TaxPrepare and file sales and use tax returns accurately and on timeMaintain supporting documentation and tax recordsEnsure compliance with multi-state and local tax regulationsReconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepanciesMonitor changes in tax laws and assess business impactSupport tax audits and assist with registrations and nexus trackingData Management & Cross-Functional SupportMaintain and govern customer master data across accounting, sales, and customer systemsPartner with internal teams to ensure data accuracy and consistencyCollaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and workflowsFixed Assets & Other ResponsibilitiesManage fixed assets database and related softwarePrepare and maintain asset records and support depreciation trackingDraft and deliver professional business correspondenceSupport ad hoc accounting projects and initiativesPerform other duties as assignedQualifications & SkillsMinimum 3 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environmentBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferredAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience with SAP is requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesTeam-oriented with strong communication skills
