Role DescriptionThis AmeriCorps VISTA position at United Way of the Ocoee Region is an on-site, volunteer role located in Cleveland, TN. VISTA members will engage in capacity-building activities to fight poverty and create sustainable change in the community. Responsibilities include grant research & writing, marketing and communications, volunteer recruitment and retention, event planning, program development & fundraising. Members will work closely with local non-profit leaders to address critical issues impacting local residents and will have opportunities to develop professional skills while making a meaningful difference.Qualifications (dependent on the non-profit organization VISTA is placed at)Program Coordination and Community Engagement skillsStrong Written and Verbal Communication skillsProject Management, Event Planning, and Organizational skillsResearch and analytical abilities for data collection and reportingFamiliarity with Fundraising, Grant Writing, and Volunteer ManagementAdaptability, problem-solving, and ability to work in collaborative team environmentsPassion for public service and a proactive approach to addressing community challengesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software toolsVISTA BenefitsEach VISTA Volunteer commits to serving a year at one specific non-profit organization in the Ocoee Region for 35 a week. VISTA Volunteers receive a living allowance biweekly totaling $22,882 annually and $150 gift card to Food City monthly. At the end of the year term, VISTA Volunteers have the option of using the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award valued at $7,395.00, which can be used to pay back your qualifying student loans or for furthering your education, or an end-of-service cash stipend set at $1,800.
