Patient Access Representative Associate

The shift is day/evening, 8-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation, and 0.5 FTE (40 hours every two-week pay period).The job summary includes greeting and welcoming patients in person, providing a standard registration process by collecting demographic and financial data and entering information into electronic medical record. Principle responsibilities include:Greets and welcomes patient in person.Collects demographic and insurance information.Checks in or interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.Directs patient to their appointment or procedure.May assist in scheduling add-on appointments.Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results.Obtains signatures from patients as needed.Collects co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs available.Refers complex questions as needed.Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.Assists patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department.May gather medical record information from all departments for collection.May mentor new staff.Other duties as assigned.Required qualifications include being 16 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description, 0 to 2 years of customer service experience, 0 to 2 years of general office experience, and 0 to 2 years of experience using computer including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 0 to 2 years of knowledge of the components of revenue cycle and health care insurance.Physical demands include light work: lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.Pay range is $21.15 to $30.80 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
