Job DescriptionSystems Administrator II\nLocation: Norfolk, VA / Dam Neck (On-site)\nClearance: Active Secret (required)\nEmployment Type: Full-Time\nStatus: Contingent Upon Contract Award\nStrategic Technology Institute (STi) is seeking a Systems Administrator II to support the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC). This position provides mission-critical IT, network, and cybersecurity support at SCSTC Norfolk / Dam Neck training facilities supporting U.S. Navy surface combat systems training.\nPosition Overview\nThe Systems Administrator II provides on-site system administration and network support for SCSTC-controlled systems and training networks. The role supports classified and unclassified environments, standalone systems, and mission systems associated with Navy surface combat systems training, including platforms such as AEGIS, SSDS, and CIAT.\nThe Systems Administrator II applies technical expertise across network infrastructure, system administration, cybersecurity, and cloud computing to support system availability, performance, and security in a secure DoD training environment.\nMinimum Qualifications\n\n\nFour (4) years of systems management experience\n\n\nExperience supporting enterprise IT environments\n\n\nAbility to work on-site in a secure government facility\n\n\nActive Secret security clearance\n\n\nRequired Skills & Knowledge\nNetwork Infrastructure\n\n\nComputer networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies\n\n\nLocal Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) architecture and pathways\n\n\nBandwidth management principles and techniques\n\n\nNetwork traffic flow concepts (TCP/IP and OSI model)\n\n\nPerformance tuning tools and techniques\n\n\nRemote access technologies\n\n\nVirtual Private Network (VPN) security\n\n\nNetwork protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and directory services\n\n\nCommon network diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup)\n\n\nFile system implementations (NTFS, FAT, EXT)\n\n\nVirtualization technologies and virtual machine management\n\n\nSecurity Expertise\n\n\nIT security principles and methods (firewalls, DMZs, encryption)\n\n\nNetwork security architecture concepts, including defense-in-depth\n\n\nCybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities\n\n\nKnowledge of national and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies\n\n\nOrganizational IT user security policies (account management, access control)\n\n\nData security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)\n\n\nSystem, network, and operating system hardening techniques\n\n\nSoftware-based computer protection tools (firewalls, antivirus, antispyware)\n\n\nKnowledge of transmission technologies (Bluetooth, RFID, IR, Wi-Fi) and jamming techniques\n\n\nSystem Administration\n\n\nServer and client operating systems\n\n\nSystems administration concepts and best practices\n\n\nEnterprise IT architecture\n\n\nSystem/server diagnostic tools and fault identification\n\n\nOperating system command-line utilities (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat)\n\n\nSystem maintenance procedures including disk checks, backups, and reboots\n\n\nCloud Computing\n\n\nCloud computing service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS)\n\n\nCloud computing deployment models (private, public, hybrid)\n\n\nCloud security strategy and architecture\n\n\nMigrating workloads between cloud service models\n\n\nWork Environment\n\n\nOn-site support at SCSTC Norfolk / Dam Neck, VA\n\n\nSecure training and operational IT environments supporting Navy mission systems\n\n\nWork assignments and responsibilities are subject to government approval and contract award\n\n
