Job DescriptionHM Staffing is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Utility Locator to locate and mark underground utilities before excavation and construction projects. This role is critical to maintaining safety, preventing damage, and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.ResponsibilitiesLocate and mark underground utilities (gas, electric, water, sewer, communications)Use locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and ground-penetrating radar (GPR)Mark utilities accurately using paint, flags, and stakes per APWA color codesRead and interpret maps, drawings, and utility recordsCommunicate clearly with contractors, homeowners, and team membersComplete required documentation and digital reportsFollow all safety procedures and company policiesRequirementsHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's license with a clean driving recordAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to walk long distances and lift up to 50 lbsBasic computer or smartphone skillsStrong attention to detail and safety awarenessPreferred QualificationsPrevious utility locating experienceKnowledge of APWA color codesExperience with GPR or EM locating equipmentOSHA 10 or 30 certification (a plus)
