Clinic Receptionist
Summary of Position: The Clinic Receptionist plays a key role in providing excellent customer service to patients and visitors. They greet individuals upon arrival, verify personal and insurance information, collect necessary documentation and payments, and answer basic questions about services. Receptionists also help coordinate communication between patients and the healthcare team. They maintain accurate records and follow established office protocols to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for everyone.Duties And ResponsibilitiesGreet patients and guests when they arrive Request insurance and photo IDCheck patients in and out; verify demographic and insurance information is correct Scan new cards and update insurance information as necessary Verify annual consent forms have been signed Collect copays and outstanding balances Print statements and receipts for payments Answer basic billing questions or refer them to the billing office Notify therapist when patient is ready to be seen Answer patient phone calls, schedule or reschedule appointments, transfer calls as necessaryCall back patients who have left a voice message or transfer to appropriate partyOversee daily schedule and try to fill open slots with patients on a recall/waitlist Set up patient payment plans and process credit card payments on 5th and 15th each month Balance cash drawer daily and reconcile with system deposit report; ensure cash drawer is locked in office safe or drawer away from the front desk after hours Manage all vendor deliveries; open and/or deliver to appropriate personnel Clean reception area and front office Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.EducationHigh School diploma or GED requiredExperienceAt least one (1) year of experience in a medical practice or facility preferredRequired SkillsComfortable asking for money and addressing patients with compassionProblem solving skills; resourcefulnessExperience with electronic medical records/billing systemExcellent organizational, communication and time management skillsExcellent customer service skillsAbility to take initiative and problem solve with minimal directionAttention to detailCalm under pressureIWU Kingdom Diversity StatementIWU, in covenant with God's reconciling work and in accordance with the Biblical principles of our historic Wesleyan tradition, commits to build a community that reflects Kingdom diversity.
