Accounting Manager

Job Title: Accounting Manager · Summary: Under the guidance of the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department to include accounts payable, cash management, inventory, general ledger, government reporting and the preparation of monthly financial reports. The Accounting Manager provides leadership to the organization while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices to promote the vision of the company. Plan, manage, organize, and direct the day to day activities, month end tasks, and workload of the accounting department. You will communicate and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders within the company and the parent company to ensure requirements, deliverables, and expectations are appropriately addressed. In addition, you will manage and assist with various projects to continually enhance the financial reporting process, including systems-based improvements and procedure updates to build on making the month end close and reporting process more efficient and transparent. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and controls to ensure the integrity of the financial information. Ad hoc projects may include assignments such as: reviewing internal controls; adopting best practices to streamline workstreams; supporting other strategic corporate initiatives. The Accounting Manager will collaborate with various departments to provide valuable financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Job Responsibilities: Manage, train and assist a team of 3-4 professionals Manage general accounting function with focus on continually seeking out process improvement and best practice opportunities, including better use of systems, elimination of waste, enhanced use of technology, and refinement of close reporting processes. Set department performance and development objectives. Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs. Drive department objectives and prepare staff annual performance reviews. Assist in the development and implementation of new policy and procedures to enhance the workflow of the department, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance with Company policy. Oversee the month-end close of the financial records for Domestic. This includes the review and posting of all key journals and entries related to sales, cost of goods sold and expenses. You will review and post key accruals and intercompany journal entries. You will review and approve the journal entries of senior accountants before posting to the General Ledger. You will perform a management review of all Financial Statements and other reporting for accuracy and ensure deadlines are met. Responsible for the general ledger and the month-end general ledger close process. This includes the review of the general ledger, including analysis of account activity, preparation of journal entries, and review of general ledger account reconciliations and schedules to ensure the accuracy, validity and completeness of financial records. Sales and Use tax calculation and reporting Other projects around payroll, Assets, Inventory as needed Provide deliverables and support for Statutory and Management reporting Support the analysis, escalation, and resolution of accounting issues and questions, including review and explanation of variances and fluctuations in account balances. Provide guidance to team on account reconciliation Help facilitate the month end flash reporting to corporate Provide deliverables for the annual financial review/audit Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting. Perform other duties and functions as required in the job classification and expected within the responsibility area Skill, Qualifications, Experience: Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in full cycle accounting preferably in a manufacturing & distribution environment Accounting degree required CPA or other professional designation would be a plus Microsoft Office intermediate skills – Excel, Word, and Outlook SAP is a requirement Strong problem solving and analytical skills Able to function productively and professionally in a team-oriented environment Able to multitask, manage multiple priorities, and follow detailed instructions * Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally throughout the week. Move within office and manufacturing environments without assistance or restriction. Sit for extended periods up to 9 hours per day. Bend, stoop, lean, twist, squat regularly; unrestricted and full range of upper and lower body movements Manual dexterity to continuously keyboard, and to grasp, move, and lift products and objects. Visual acuity for continuous computer work. Write by hand. Communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Communicate in person without difficulty. Qualifications: Requires knowledge and ability to perform satisfactorily and safely all duties and functions expected of the job classification and of all classifications assigned. Must be knowledgeable in bookkeeping, administrative, and office procedures. Must possess necessary interpersonal skills, written and verbal, to work with others and fulfill the job duties and requirements.
