Game Developer – Core Development Team
Grimm Creative | Proof of Concept DevelopmentGrimm Creative is looking for passionate game developers interested in helping us build the foundation of both our first major project and, hopefully, a much larger future together. Please be sure to read this entire posting. We are currently developing the Proof of Concept for an original PC multiplayer forensic mystery game centered around investigation, evidence, player interaction, deduction, and social deception.A substantial amount of the game has already been conceptualized and documented. We're now looking for people who can help us turn those ideas into something playable.Who We're Looking ForOur immediate priority is a Gameplay Programmer who can help build the core systems behind the Proof of Concept. We are also particularly interested in finding a 3D Modeler / Texture Artist who can help create environments, props, and other assets so that we can gradually reduce our reliance on premade marketplace content and establish a stronger identity of our own. That said, we're building a team, not just filling two boxes. If your background is in game development and you believe you could bring something valuable to the project, we'd still like to hear from you. That could include programming, 3D art, animation, UI/UX, technical art, level design, sound, or another relevant discipline. What We're BuildingThe current project is a multiplayer investigation game designed around the idea that players should have to actually investigate. We're exploring systems involving forensic evidence, interactive environments, multiplayer gameplay, player-driven deduction, and competing objectives. Some of the project's deeper mechanics are intentionally being kept private during public recruitment. Selected team members will be brought into the larger design and development process as we begin working together. For the Proof of Concept, we plan to use quality existing marketplace assets where they make sense while paying close attention to scale, style, lighting, materials, and overall cohesion. Our goal isn't to create an asset flip. Existing assets simply allow us to spend our earliest development effort on proving the gameplay.Where possible, we also want the production version of our games to be built by people. AI may occasionally help us visualize concepts during pre-production, but our preference is for production programming, artwork, models, interfaces, audio, and other assets to ultimately come from human creators.Core Team Member ExpectationsWe're looking for people who can communicate, collaborate, and take ownership of the part of the project they agree to work on.We don't expect everyone joining us to know everything. We do expect honesty about capabilities, reliable communication, willingness to work toward clearly defined milestones, and an interest in solving problems together. This is early development. Things will change, prototypes will fail, mechanics will be rewritten, and good ideas may come from anyone on the team.We want people who find that process exciting.CompensationWe also want to be completely transparent about where Grimm Creative currently stands. This is not an upfront salaried or hourly paid position during the Proof of Concept stage. We are currently building the project without the funding necessary to compensate a traditional development team upfront.Work performed during the Proof of Concept would therefore be governed by a written contributor agreement defining the person's responsibilities, deliverables, milestones, and applicable deferred compensation.Certain completed milestones may qualify contributors for pre-agreed deferred bonuses, with payment contingent upon the agreed deliverables being completed and the project successfully achieving the applicable funding conditions.Funding is not guaranteed. If the project successfully receives the funding necessary to enter full development, members of the Core Development Team who helped create the Proof of Concept will receive the first opportunity to continue with the project.Additionally, anyone who joins the Core Development Team, contributes to the Proof of Concept, and continues working on the full game if it is funded will be eligible for an agreed royalty share from future game sales, subject to conditions and percentages established in writing before full development begins. The exact arrangement will depend on role, involvement, responsibilities, and mutually agreed terms. One More GameThis project matters to us, but Grimm Creative wasn't created for just one game. Our goal is to use this project as a ladder toward bigger and better games, a larger development capability, and a studio capable of taking on the other ideas we already want to pursue. And if we succeed, we'd much rather reach those milestones alongside the people who helped us get started. We're looking for people who might someday be able to say:“It's crazy how many experiences we've built!"Interested?Send us a little about yourself, including your development specialty, experience, portfolio/GitHub/demo reel or other examples of your work, general availability, and what interests you about joining an early-stage game development team.Professional studio experience is welcome, but it isn't the only thing we're looking at. A strong portfolio, demonstrated ability, reliability, creativity, and genuine passion for making games can go a long way.Who is Grimm Creative?Grimm Creative is a small game studio with big dreams—and even bigger ambitions. We want to help redefine the relationship between players and developers by building games alongside the communities that play them, listening to feedback, and creating an environment where both the studio and the people around it can grow together. Our vision goes beyond simply making our own games. We want to build something strong enough that, one day, we can help other creators build theirs.Today, that starts with our projects. Tomorrow, it could mean helping another developer bring their dream game to life.We believe good ideas deserve the opportunity to become real, and our long-term goal is to grow Grimm Creative into a studio capable of supporting developers, creators, and projects that may otherwise never get that opportunity.Joining Grimm Creative now means being there at the ground floor—not just of a game, but of the studio we hope to become. It takes a village.
