Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer- Power Systems to join our growing team!Location: Duluth, MN | Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN | Omaha, NE | Nashville, TN | Pittsburgh, PA | Houston, TXWork Arrangement: Hybrid preferred | Remote considered for the right candidateWe prefer candidates located near one of our office locations to support collaboration and team connectivity; however, we are open to remote candidates for the right individual.Lead Complex Power & Industrial Projects That MatterThis is a high-impact technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex electrical design challenges and leading projects from concept through execution.In this role, you will support a wide range of industrial and energy infrastructure projects, including Oil & Gas, Renewables, Distributed Power, Data Centers, and Power Generation. You’ll serve as a technical lead, client partner, and mentor—helping deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions while guiding project teams and supporting business growth.What You’ll DoAs a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems, you will play a key role in the design, execution, and delivery of complex electrical engineering projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead moderate to large-scale electrical engineering projects from concept through deliveryServe as a technical lead and make sound decisions on complex engineering issuesDevelop and oversee: Power system designs, Controls drawings, Engineering calculations, Technical reports and Project documentationDesign electrical service interconnects in coordination with local utility providersPrepare specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of electrical equipmentPerform and/or lead: Electrical system studies, detailed design work, design reviews, field investigations and technical reportingUse engineering software such as SKM or ETAP for system modeling and analysisCoordinate closely with project managers, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholdersIdentify project risks, scope changes, and technical challenges early and proactivelyContribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and business development effortsProvide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designersWhat You BringRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredProven experience in a technical leadership roleDirect experience supporting industrial facilitiesExperience using SKM or ETAPStrong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, API and AGA recommended practicesTechnical ExperienceYou should bring strong experience in the design and analysis of:High, medium, and low voltage power systemsProtective relay schemesArc flash hazard analysisSwitchgearMotor control centers (MCCs)DrivesService entrance systemsEmergency power systemsPower distribution equipmentElectrical equipment upgradesPreferred ExperienceSubstation designRelay programming and startupField support during constructionExperience spanning project conception, design, commissioning, and startupWhat Sets You ApartWe’re looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with leadership, initiative, and a practical consulting mindset.Ideal Candidate TraitsAbility to think strategically and drive ideas from concept to implementationStrong organizational and prioritization skillsDemonstrated ability to lead and direct project teamsExcellent communication and follow-throughStrong presentation and client-facing skillsAbility to adapt in fast-moving project environmentsSelf-motivated with a commitment to delivering high-quality, technically sound workStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsTeam-oriented with a willingness to mentor and support othersTravelAbility to travel for short durations to support site visits, field investigations and client meetings (approximately 10%)Why Join Lake Superior Consulting?At Lake Superior Consulting, you’ll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that support critical infrastructure and the evolving energy landscape. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location.
