Dingell VA Medical Center, part of the Detroit Medical Center complexAcademic affiliation with Wayne State University School of MedicineCollaborative team of radiologists, technologists, and support staffOpportunities for teaching residents and technologists; research interest welcome but not requiredImaging EnvironmentWork with a modern, expanding imaging service that includes:3T PET-MRI and 3T wide-bore MRIDual-source multidetector CTState-of-the-art X-ray systemsTwo fluoroscopy systemsAngiography suiteOncologic and cardiovascular radiology are key areas of focus, with interventional involvement encouraged but not mandatory.Key ResponsibilitiesInterpret a full range of studies: X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Fluoroscopy.Review imaging orders for appropriateness and prescribe/adjust protocols as needed.Ensure image quality and safety in alignment with American College of Radiology standards.Provide timely, accurate reports and directly communicate time-sensitive or critical results.Interact with patients, when appropriate, to obtain relevant clinical information.Collaborate with referring clinicians to support coordinated, patient-centered care.Participate in tumor boards, medical staff meetings, quality and safety activities.Support academic programs through teaching and supervision of trainees.QualificationsMD or DO degree.Board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology; ABR preferred.Fellowship training in cardiothoracic imaging preferred.U.S. Citizenship required; non-citizens may be considered when qualified citizens are not available, per VA policy.Unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.Proficiency in written and spoken English.Total RewardsThe VA offers a competitive, comprehensive package for physicians, including:Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular increases.Recruitment incentive (sign-on bonus) authorized.Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – student loan repayment up to $200,000 for qualified candidates.50–55 days of paid time off annually (annual leave, sick leave, federal holidays, and possible paid CME absence).Federal pension (five-year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contributions.Extensive federal benefits: health, dental, vision, life, and long-term care insurance, many portable into retirement.Malpractice coverage provided at no cost, including tail coverage.No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.Detroit offers an appealing mix of professional opportunities and quality of life for physicians.
