Growing together.The Assc Dir HR Ops/Payroll - M&A is responsible for conducting due diligence, coordinating, and managing integration of acquisitions for Payroll purposes. This position will ensure that all payroll and systems tasks for each due diligence and integration are followed, stay on task, and are completed timely.The Assc Dir HR Ops/Payroll - M&A will interact with the Payroll Director - M&A, Payroll Tax, Payroll Systems, Payroll Operations, Human Capital Technology, newly integrating entities, vendors and third parties. This position will coordinate all of these invested departments and outside parties to collaborate with an end goal of mitigating risk during due diligence and having successful integrations.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary ResponsibilitiesAttend People Teams project integration calls and articulate status of all payroll related itemsHost payroll specific integration calls and coordinate project tasks with required team membersDevelops, maintains, and improves tools/resources to ensure alignment and consistency across the COEProvide status updates on all open diligence and integration projects for other COEs and leadershipManage due diligence risk assessments, accurately reflect all risks in RISE reports, and partner with outside counsel in diligence process to provide necessary data for rep & warranties insuranceCollaborate with outside counsel during the drafting of purchase agreements to prevent UHG from agreeing to items that increase the risk or expense the corporate payroll team is exposed toProvides in depth analysis of legacy payroll tax filing accuracy within diligence processIdentify global transactions and coordinate with global payroll team to ensure country specific legislation is taken into consideration for diligence and integration activitiesPartner with global payroll team to provide M&A tools for consistency across the COEAssist with training/mentoring all new M&A team members as neededCollaborate with Payroll M& A team to identify strategic integration timing for all projectsMaintain state/federal legislation education to provide compliant recommendations for all legacy payroll policy and practice transitionsCollaborate with appropriate stakeholders to address/resolve issues related to employee information and/or pay (Operations Center, UHG IT Help Desk, Compensation, ER, managers, employees, HRIS, Tax)Leverage and build upon current best practices to create industry-leading M&A practices/processesCollaborate with Labor Relations leadership to identify Union employees within UHG systems, provide accurate time estimations for future systematic configuration needs, and participate in bargaining conversations to ensure payroll items agreed upon are compliant with state/federal legislationPartner with HC Tech team to configure Union specific codes and other systematic configuration needs as they ariseDiagnosing issues and payroll design needs; make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness within PeopleSoft for upcoming integrationsResponsible for timelines and holding team members accountable for tasks related to integrations and other projectsSupport acquisition activities by helping team members with escalations, issues, testing any other task neededWork with team members to develop innovative processes for new or unique needs of businessesSchedule meetings as needed and act as point of contact for 3rd parties, vendors, internal team and other business partnersEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employeesTroubleshoot and work with HRIS and HC Tech on any system related initiatives, upgrades and enhancements related to upcoming integrationsCollaborate with corporate Payroll team, Total Rewards, HCS, HCT and HR communities in the support of integration business initiativesMaintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers and vendorsOther projects as assignedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications5+ years of functional, design and implementation experience with Payroll and M&AExperience with acquisition mapping, fit/gap analysis, set up and testingProject management experienceSolid knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and payroll functionsKnowledge of internal systematic controls related to Sarbanes-Oxley requirementsSolid understanding of how to build efficient payroll processesProven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with hard deadlines simultaneouslyProven project documentation disciplineProven solid analytical, problem solving and payroll functional skillsProven excellent verbal and written communication skillsProven implement innovative solutions for new or ongoing processesVarious hours as needed to support due diligence and integrationsPreferred QualificationsOracle experienceKnowledge of process re-engineering and change managementAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment.
