Job Title: Counselor's Office Clerk Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Campus Principal Pay Grade 2: Administrative Support Pay PlanDept/School: Assigned Campus Initiated Date: July 21, 2004Positon #: 0076205 Revised Date: January 24, 2017District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.Department Primary Purpose: Contribute to the efficient operation of a school support system and provide clerical services for school's administrative staff.Qualifications:Education/Certification: High School Graduate or GEDKnowledge/Skills: Demonstrate aptitude for the successful performance of the tasks assignedAbility to type with reasonable accuracy a minimum of 45 words per minuteProficient typing, word processing and file maintenance skillsEffective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databasesKnowledge of basic mathAbility to meet established deadlinesMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Input student and other pertinent information into the computer.Assist in obtaining student information from permanent records and other school districts when necessary.Assist campus secretary in proving student information to teacher.File correspondence, invoices, cards, or other records in prescribed manner.Sort incoming material for file system in use.Classify and cross-index materials according to a standardized coding chart and label folders or envelopes with specified identification data.Locate and remove information as needed; maintain accurate student records.Clear files at designated intervals under counselor's direction.Enter counselor logs into the district's mainframe.Maintain confidentiality.Perform other duties as assigned by counselor/administrator.WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands:Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors:Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Works with frequent interruptions, moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting.
