Job Summary:Verano is experiencing exponential growth, and we are looking to add to our Finance team. The Director of Finance is responsible for support of the monthly-close process and development and training of staff.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead an effective and comprehensive process for all accounting functions, reconciliations and month end close.Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting processLead general ledger month-end close to ensure the team prepares journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations by set deadlinesReview of monthly financial results and analysis of profit and loss on an entity and consolidated basisAssist in creating and documenting new and efficient processes related to recording journal entries and performing meaningful and detailed account reconciliationsEnsure all accounting is in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting guidelinesConsolidate entries and prepare rollforwards to be utilized in preparing financial statementsCommunicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to managementEstablishes business requirements for system implementations and or enhancements. Proactively engage with key stakeholders on system and procedure enhancements, ensuring overall communication across the business, focused specific meetings and written communicationsProvides inputs for budget planning and goal setting, and monitors fiscal performance to planImplements a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks and maintains responsibility for the fiscal integrity of all financial reporting and operations.Determines staffing needs based on short and long-term business goals. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team aligned with the business’ vision, values and prioritiesTrain, coach and develop skills of staff accountantsProvide support and assistance to external auditorsPerform other duties as assignedSpecific Assignments:Establish accounting practices related to the proper recording and reconciliation of the company’s inventory across its various cultivation and retail locationsDocument and maintain policies and procedures for tracking inventory in each state of operationAct as the Finance team’s primary contact to communicate with internal and external parties regarding all inventory related systems and processes improvements/implementationsCoordinate with cultivation facility general managers and outside consulting firm to prepare, review and record the quarterly inventory valuationPrepare internal reports on inventory analysis and other variances throughout the month as requiredMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance required6-10 year(s) of corporate accounting experience requiredManagement experience requiredMicrosoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced), experience requiredKnowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC, rules and regulations requiredStrong ability to influence appropriate operational counterparts to timely closeout of normal costing dutiesMust have ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issuesMust be able to execute and follow through to completion and documentationMust be authorized to work in the United StatesMust be 21 years of age or olderMust be able to pass a state and federal criminal background checkPreferred Qualifications:CPA designation is a plusDirect experience in CPG or manufacturing (inventory experience) is a plusSpecific industry experience is a plusSAP, Blackline platform experience is a plusPhysical and Mental Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls.
