Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.Position Area DutiesServe as backup to Transportation Manager as neededAssist transportation, warehouse, and other departments with shipping activitiesNegotiate transportation rates or services for outbound & inbound loadsGive practical recommendations on how to reduce freight cost by consolidating weekly orders from LTL to Full Truck loadsMaintain companies' transportation cost below budgetMonitor and control company's transportation expenses per customer; per load; per destination; per delivery point and type of charges (this will support monthly expenses)Maintain close communication with CarriersCoordinate, monitor and track weekly outbound schedule with Carriers to assure orders meet on time scheduled pickup and delivery appointmentsReport to Management and Customer Service on any issues concerning transportation, product shortages and damages at time of deliveryResponding immediately to customer questions and notifying them of any delays on deliveriesSpecific Skills and Abilities RequiredEffective communication, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communicationQuick critical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent customer service and client relations skillsKeep organization and time management skillsGood collaboration and team-work abilitiesGreat leadership and goal-setting skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentBilingual Spanish & English preferredKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeAbility to use computers, software and other technology for communication purposesRequirements and Duties:High School/ G.E.DMinimum 2 years' experience on the field (Food Industry is a plus)Bilingual (English/Spanish)After completing an application, qualified candidates will be scheduled for a phone screen followed by an interview with the Logistics management team.
