Part-Time Histology Technician

Job TypePart-timeDescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Anatomical Histology Technician to support our in-house pathology laboratory within a podiatry practice. This role is responsible for the preparation, processing, and handling of tissue specimens in compliance with CLIA, CAP (if applicable), and internal laboratory standards.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in histology workflows and the ability to work independently in a small laboratory setting while maintaining high-quality standards and turnaround times.RequirementsJob ResponsibilitiesPerform all aspects of histology processing, including:Specimen accessioning and verificationGrossing assistance (as permitted by training and scope)Tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and slide preparationRoutine H&E staining and special stains as neededEnsure proper labeling and tracking of all specimens in accordance with regulatory requirementsMaintain compliance with CLIA regulations, laboratory policies, and quality control standardsMonitor and document quality control, maintenance logs, and reagent performanceTroubleshoot routine histology equipment (tissue processors, microtomes, stainers)Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and safety standardsAssist with inventory management, supply ordering, and reagent preparationCommunicate effectively with providers and clinical staff regarding specimen handling and statusSupport laboratory inspections, audits, and documentation readinessMinimum Qualifications Candidates must be HTL (ASCP) certified with 2 yrs. experience in basic histology.Strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage workflow and prioritize tasks efficientlyKnowledge of tissue handling, fixation, and processing techniquesComfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environmentStrong documentation and organizational skillsTeam-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solvingSchedule Expectations Part-time hours (flexible based on specimen volume and lab needs)May require consistent weekly schedule to maintain workflow continuityAdditional Notes This role is critical to maintaining turnaround times and diagnostic quality within an in-house podiatric pathology labIdeal for candidates who are adaptable and comfortable being a key operator in a lean laboratory environmentBenefits 401(K)401(K) Employer MatchSalary Description
