Nurse Practitioner, Pulmonary & ICU

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Specialty Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP will be responsible for the care of intensive care patients (medical, cardiac, surgical, and pulmonary) and participate in inpatient and outpatient general pulmonary services.The Nurse Practitioner, Pulmonary & ICU, performs duties that include, but are not limited to the following:Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.When caring for critical care patients, the NP will work closely with the multidisciplinary ICU team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care and ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care activities.Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.Provides education to patient and their families.Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.Exemplifies the ICARE core values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Combination of 12 hour and 8-hour shifts (Includes weekends & holidays)Day and Night Shift Rotation12-hour day shift: 6:00am to 6:30 pm12-hour night shift: 6:00 pm to 6:30 am8-hour day shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm8-hour evening shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30pm8-hour night shift: 10pm to 6:30amRotation to Inpatient Consults and Outpatient Clinics required as needed Monday-Friday.Outpatient Clinic Assignment Tours:Day Shift: 8:00 am to 4:30 pmTelework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.
