Product Engineer

DescriptionThe OpportunityNewton Beverage Solutions is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Product Engineer position located at our Lewisville, TX location. The Product Engineer works within the Engineering team to develop and sustain beverage dispensing products through design, analysis, and documentation of new and existing products. Creates and sustains specifications using engineering analysis and judgment. Oversees the development and testing of engineering prototypes. Communicates and coordinates with vendors to obtain information and assistance.ResponsibilitiesMay include, in addition to: Create, revise, and sustain beverage dispensing equipment product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principlesDevelop and manage project schedules related to new and existing product designsAnalyze product designs using tolerance, thermodynamic, finite element, and computational fluid dynamic analysesDocument product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requestsAssist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long term system quality, improve efficiency and reduce costDevelop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniquesParticipate in cross-functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product improvementsCoordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budgetWork with suppliers to improve quality and resolve product issuesAssist manufacturing with product launches and issue resolutionDrive continuous improvement projects related to product design and qualityPerform other job duties as required by SupervisorRequirementsComprehensive understanding and knowledge of mechanical design theory and practiceStrong understanding of fluids mechanics and mechanical designExperience with design for Manufacture (DFM), design failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA), design of experiments methodology, tolerance analysis, value engineering principles, and parts standardization principles (preferred)Solidworks experience producing complex 3D assemblies/drawings including sheet metal, castings, and/or injection molded partsKnowledge of specifications and standards used in the beverage dispensing equipment industry (preferred)Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ProjectEffective project management and organizational skillsEffective analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills Strong team player, results orientated, dedication to excellence and sense of urgency to achieve business objectivesAbility to use good judgement, a strong work ethic and integrity on the job Proactive individual who can excel with minimal oversight and adapts well to changing prioritiesWorks with the Engineering team to develop and sustain beverage dispensing equipment and related products2 - 3+ years of experience with product design in automotive, appliance, or food and beverage industryBachelor's Degree in Mechanical EngineeringBlack Belt / Green Belt (Six Sigma) a plus
