Homeschool Teacher-Private Family
*Job Summary:
California Private Teachers is seeking a full-time private teacher for a family living in Santa Rosa, CA. The family has a child who is 10 years old and started 5th grade at a local public school. After a recent re-evaluation of the child’s IEP, the family has decided to homeschool for the remainder of the 2024/2025 school year. This is a unique opportunity in which the private teacher will need to be resourceful and willing to work on a team to support the child's academic and developmental needs while integrating therapies and best practices in the home and learning space. The private teacher must have a keen interest in alternative and progressive education, knowledge and experience teaching neurodivergent students, and the ability to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment tailored to the student's unique needs and interests. *All instructional hours will take place at the family’s home.
*Requirements/Qualifications:
The private teacher will be responsible for designing and developing the homeschool curriculum, lesson planning, and providing accommodations and intervention in alignment with his current IEP. While working in collaboration with the parents and California Private Teachers, the private teacher must be able to foster an individualized, enlivening, and holistic educational experience.
*Additional Requirements:
Curriculum Development: Design and implement a customized curriculum in alignment with the student’s academic goals and current IEP.
Lesson Planning: Prepare and deliver daily lesson plans that are engaging, interactive, and foster a love and curiosity for learning.
Individualized Instruction: Provide one-on-one instruction and support, adapting teaching methods to accommodate the student’s learning pace and style.
Progress Monitoring: Assess and track the student’s academic progress, providing regular feedback to parents and adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the student’s parents, providing updates on progress, discussing goals, and addressing any concerns.
Collaborative Learning: Facilitate and organize co-curricular activities that support and enhance overall student learning and socialization.
Professional Development: Stay current with educational best practices and innovative teaching methods through ongoing professional development and collaboration with California Private Teachers.
*Credential Requirements:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (Master's preferred)
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary, early childhood, or special education
Applicants must have experience working with neurodivergent learners
Applicants must currently reside or be willing to relocate/commute to the Santa Rosa area to provide in-person instruction
