Service Line Business Leader - Heart and Vascular Institute - Full Time

Position Summary The Business Leader supports the service line in business management for all departments within their scope. This role collaborates closely with Corporate Finance to ensure alignment with financial operations, planning, and performance metrics, while simultaneously partnering with the Service Line Operational Leader to drive business performance, growth initiatives, and service line objectives. The incumbent must navigate cross-functional priorities and maintain strong communication across both reporting lines to ensure cohesive decision-making and execution. Financial Information & Reporting Partner with leadership to review operational improvement opportunities and financial performance in areas such as staffing, procurement, patient access, and charge capture/revenue cycle. Collaborate with the operational and financial leadership to develop and implement standard financial reporting and analytics. Provide analysis to leadership including business planning and modeling for department initiatives or business ventures. Develop and implement capital and operating budgets using system-wide standards and processes. Partner with Department Leadership to develop performance targets, report variances, and create remediation plans for items such as volumes, staffing, expenses and charging & reimbursement initiatives. Maintain accountability for financial performance at all levels of the Department. Financial Operations & Processes Accountable for annual budget and current year projections, including department P&L, and develop in a manner to project sufficient detail at a physician level. Presents operational data, provides explanations, communicates data, and leads discussions with relevant stakeholders on a routine basis. Provide analytics to the operations team to efficiently manage productivity of staff throughout the department. Develop and provide physician reporting of work RVUs for new and existing practices and clinicians; oversee modeling, tracking, and analyzing of provider RVUs as needed. Manage and distribute Provider Scorecards routinely. Optimize processes to ensure efficiencies in charge capture, billing edits and certain areas of denials management, ensuring appropriate feedback is given to key stakeholders. Work closely with the department to prepare business plans for new business ventures, including financial accountability, resource management, costs and return on investment. Maintain a system of internal/business controls that provide reasonable assurance to leadership that departmental information is accurate, timely, and reliable. Support organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree required (MBA and/or MHA preferred, or working toward completion within one year). Experience: 7+ years of work experience within healthcare operations, with direct involvement in business or clinical operations. Strong financial and analytical skills. Proficiency in clinical and financial applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents in the position will be trained appropriately and required to attain competency within 30-60 days from hire date. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the competencies established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. Advanced written and verbal communication is necessary. Ability to organize and communicate information effectively with staff, peers, surgeons, and senior leadership. Possess skills to multitask and prioritize work appropriately. Display ability to effectively use Microsoft Office—Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be organized and have advanced time-management skills to succeed in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment. Work Environment This position requires long periods of reading, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and crouching—a majority of the workday. It may involve eye and hearing strain at times and working with equipment such as a computer terminal, fax machine, printer, and copier. Reporting Relationship The Service Line Business Leader operates within a matrixed reporting structure, with dual accountability to both the Corporate Finance Office and the Business Unit Operational Leader.
