It involves preparing the large, fragile products for safe shipment from a manufacturing or distribution center. Due to the size and value of the items, packers handle them with more care than smaller goods, often using specialized equipment and following strict quality control measures. Job summaryThe Packer is responsible for accurately and securely packaging jacuzzi whirlpool baths and related components for outbound shipment. This position requires careful attention to detail to prevent damage, proper labeling for freight carriers, and adherence to all safety and quality standards. The Packer must be physically able to handle large, bulky items and operate equipment such as pallet jacks. Duties and responsibilitiesInspecting and preparing products: Perform a final visual inspection of each whirlpool bath for defects or damage before packing. Ensure all accessories, such as plumbing items and components, are included per the order's bill of materials.Securing the product: Apply protective materials, such as foam padding, bubble wrap, and heavy-duty plastic wrap, to secure the whirlpool bath and its sensitive components during transport.Crating and palletizing: Securely place the product on a sturdy pallet. For large or valuable items, this may involve building custom wooden crates or using specific crating techniques to provide maximum protection.Labeling and documentation: Accurately print and affix shipping labels, barcodes, and any required documentation to the package or crate. Ensure the correct information is recorded in the inventory and shipping system.Quality control: Conduct quality checks throughout the process to ensure all packing specifications are met and products are properly labeled. Report any discrepancies or quality issues to a supervisor.Material handling: Transport packages to the staging or loading dock area using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts. Monitor and restock packing supplies as needed.Maintenance and safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Qualifications and skillsExperience: Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, particularly with handling large or fragile items, is often preferred.Physical stamina: The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (typically up to 50 pounds), and perform repetitive tasks is required.Attention to detail: A high level of accuracy is essential for inspecting products, ensuring correct labeling, and following packing procedures.Teamwork: The ability to work effectively with other team members to meet production goals and maintain a safe and positive work environment.Basic computer skills: Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and scanning equipment may be necessary.Equipment operation: Must be able to operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, safely and effectively.
