This role involves managing sourcing strategies across multiple material categories and optimizing procurement processes to achieve purchasing performance metrics.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and develop sourcing strategies within the procurement organization for various material categories such as poles, distribution and substation apparatus equipment, wire and cable, transformers, MRO supplies, safety equipment, chemicals, and gasesConduct competitive request for proposals (RFP) to address short-term and long-term material requirements and achieve the purchasing performance metrics of timely delivery, right quality, and optimum costLead negotiations to achieve the best value and commercial terms and conditionsIdentify suppliers and create appropriate engagement plans to ensure competitive RFP participationPerform data analysis in Microsoft Excel and develop presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint to make data-driven sourcing recommendationsPrioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, analyzing information and making strategic decisions regarding scope, impact, policy, development, and implementationRequired ExperienceThree or more years of experience in supply chain, procurement, and/or contract managementThree or more years of experience in supply chain, procurement, and/or category managementExperience using SAP software in a purchasing environment, and utilizing Ariba Sourcing, Contracting, and P2P modulesExperience with purchasing practices and policies, and knowledge of procurement contracts and standard terms and conditionsExperience with industry best practices, standards, utility regulations, procedures, and compliance as they relate to purchasingRequired SkillsAttention to detailProficient in MS Office suite of apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Data analysis in Microsoft ExcelPresentation development in Microsoft PowerPointCompetitive request for proposal (RFP) development and executionSupplier identification and engagement planningNegotiationStrategic decision-making regarding procurement scope, impact, policy, development, and implementationProject management and prioritization of multiple simultaneous projectsEducation RequirementsBachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field7 years of Procurement experience without a BA is also acceptableBenefitsMedical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401(k) Retirement FundAbout the ClientMajor California electric utility delivering power to millions.
