Seed Packer

Job Posting for: Fedco Seeds, Inc. Seed Packer Applications accepted until: until position is filled Start date: September 30th, 2024 Fedco Seeds is hiring highly organized, motivated, and team-oriented Seed Packers to help during our busy season. This position is full time October through March. Full-time work is not always guaranteed and occasionally the shop closes due to bad weather or lack of work. This job entails sitting for long periods of time with repetitive upper extremity motions. General Pack seeds and implement seed packing efficiency. Compute weight conversions and perform basic math operations. Follow specific written instructions and packing protocols to fill seed packets and record accurate information on work orders. Inspect seed quality - notify supervisor(s) of abnormal observations. Help maintain safety, organization and cleanliness in the seed room. Safely use a variety of tools such as calculators, scales, bag sewers/sealers and seed packing machinery. Electronically retrieve and complete seed packing production orders. Desired Skills Must be able to lift boxes and bags weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for most or all of work shift. Must be able to perform repetitive fine motor tasks efficiently and precisely. Must pay attention to detail and perform detailed tasks. Must be able to display basic math skills. Must maintain a positive attitude. Must have basic computer skills. Must be able to accept constructive input from department leaders and co-workers and make honest attempts at improving performance and competencies. All seeds shop worker responsibilities Continue to think about ways to improve Seeds and Fedco in general. Show up on time and let your coworkers/supervisor know when you cannot make it to work. Maintain respectful and honest communications. Help maintain safety, organization and cleanliness in the Seeds Warehouse. Uphold cooperative values and structure. Represent Fedco as needed at events, including the Common Ground Country Fair.
