This position will specifically focus on emergency general surgery (EGS) care. Youll manage the full spectrum of EGS conditions as defined by the American College of Surgeons, including:Acute abdomen/peritonitisSoft tissue infectionsGallbladder diseaseGI obstructionPancreatitisDiverticular diseaseAppendicitisGI bleedingPerforated peptic ulcerIncarcerated herniaAdditional responsibilities include responding to trauma activations, supporting an EGS outpatient clinic, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and teaching medical students and residents. Preference will be given to candidates with minimally invasive surgical skills and/or experience in spine exposure procedures. Robotic platform access is robust.Schedule & Clinical Expectations:Schedule: 14 12-hour restricted shifts on the EGS service per monthTelehealth: Provide EGS care via telehealth for our transfer center and sister facilitiesClinic: One day per week for post-op and semi-urgent follow-upsElective Surgery: De-emphasized but supported with OR block timeCall: Hospital-based with <30-minute response time; no in-house requirementLocation: Avenues Specialty Clinic and LDS HospitalCompensation & Benefits: This position offers a competitive salary, a bonus incentive plan, and relocation assistance, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, license reimbursement, malpractice coverage, and an annual CME allowance.What youll bring:MD or DO from an accredited medical or osteopathic schoolCompletion of General Surgery residencyBC/BE General SurgeryBoard certification in critical care not requiredUtah medical license (active or eligible)3-5 years post-training experience preferredExperience in EGS or fellowship in Minimally Invasive or Acute Care Surgery preferredMust successfully complete Intermountain Healths credentialing processWe are not able to accept candidates requiring Visa sponsorship at this timeHow we&#39;ll support you:We care about your well-being, which is why we provide our caregivers with a generous benefits package.
