Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled PLC Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related electrical systems on our dredging equipment and facilities. Your expertise will ensure optimal operation of complex machinery, supporting our mission to deliver reliable and efficient services. Position Summary The PLC, Controls & Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing industrial electrical and automation systems used in manufacturing, processing, marine, oil & gas, dredging, utility, or industrial facilities. This role supports production reliability by ensuring programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, instrumentation, drives, electrical distribution systems, and automated equipment operate safely and efficiently. The technician performs advanced diagnostics on automation systems, interprets electrical schematics, modifies PLC logic when necessary, and assists with continuous improvement and preventive maintenance initiatives. Key Responsibilities PLC & Automation Systems Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC systems including: Allen-Bradley / Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, Omron, GE Fanuc Diagnose communication failures involving: Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profinet Upload, download, backup, and restore PLC programs. Modify ladder logic, HMI screens, timers, counters, and control sequences under engineering supervision. Maintain SCADA and HMI systems. Support automation upgrades and commissioning activities. Configure and troubleshoot industrial sensors and instrumentation. Electrical Maintenance Install, troubleshooting, and repair: Motors, Starters, Contactors, Relays, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), Soft starters, Control panels, Transformers, Lighting systems, Power distribution equipment Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems. Diagnose electrical faults using: Multimeters, Meggers, Clamp meters, Oscilloscopes Read and interpret: Electrical schematics, P&IDs, One-line diagrams, Wiring diagrams, Control drawings Perform conduit installation, cable pulling, panel wiring, and terminations. Instrumentation & Controls Calibrate and troubleshoot: Pressure transmitters, Flow meters, Level sensors, Temperature devices, Control valves, Proximity sensors, Encoders Maintain loop controls and PID systems. Verify proper operation of instrumentation and process control systems.
