Registered Nurse - NICU - Nights

We are currently seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This is a full time night shift position.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate to develop, adjust, and prioritize patient care plans based on nursing assessments.
- Recognize and report any changes in patients' clinical conditions, identifying both actual and potential health issues from observed data.
- Understand the implications of abnormal diagnostic tests and ensure follow-up actions are taken (e.g., lab results, NST, OCT, US, x-rays/scans, vital signs).
- Be proficient in the Gestational/Age Maturity Rating Scale, Neonatal Abstinence Scoring, breastfeeding/bottle feeding, Glucose Protocol, bathing and daily care, oxygen setup, discharge teaching/planning, circumcision care/teaching, and PKU testing.
- Quickly identify and respond to early indicators of crisis situations, preparing for imminent deliveries as needed.
- Operate nursery-specific equipment, including radiant warmers, incubators, bili lights, bili blankets, Spacelabs, Dinemapp vital signs machines, scales, and pulse oximeters.
- Demonstrate competence in managing emergency nursing scenarios across different body systems, tailored to age-specific criteria.
- Assist with additional unit needs during crises and coordinate neonatal transport.
- Document findings and communicate relevant information to the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Educate patients, families, and significant others, considering age-specific criteria and readiness to learn.
- Perform Point of Care procedures promptly in accordance with established policies, documenting necessary information and adhering to quality control standards.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff based on job descriptions, licensing requirements, and standards of practice.
- Contribute to the development of other staff and students in affiliation programs.
- Show a willingness to cross-train and assist in other areas of the hospital, accepting assignments within competency levels as required.
- Carry out other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Must assist physician in the catheterization, angioplasty and pacemaker implantations processes.
- Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in Texas or have licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at the time of hire;
- At least 1 year of NICU experience is required.
