Licensed Vocational Nurse

Job Summary: SpeechCom Inc. is hiring a full-time CA Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to serve a school district in Encinitas, CA for the 2024/2025 school year. Details Full-time 8 hours per day 5 days per week for the full school year Pay: $25-$31/hour The LVN will likely be traveling from site to site at times. The LVN's role will be supporting health offices, student health needs, immunization records, etc. They'd need to have good experience supporting a breadth of health needs, good customer service type skills, good organizational skills and be flexible and friendly. Up to 10 school sites stretching across Carlsbad, Encinitas, Carmel Valley, Solana Beach and Del Mar. Duties/Responsibilities: Administers medications or starts intravenous fluids, noting times and amounts on students’ charts. Observes students, charting and reporting changes in conditions such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and takes necessary actions. Answers students’ concerns and determines how to assist them. Measures and records students’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration if part of duties/as necessary. Works as part of the district’s healthcare team to assess student needs, plans and modifies care, and implements interventions. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, conferring with other healthcare team members. Records food and fluid intake and output. Required Skills/Abilities: General knowledge of nursing and health care terminology. Excellent patient care skills. Education and Experience: Postsecondary certificate from vocational school or Associate’s degree in nursing required. Current CA state-issued licensure required Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May require prolonged periods of standing, moving and bending. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
