Our team is driven by precision, accountability, and a dedication to helping clients achieve their strategic objectives.Position OverviewThe Project Controls Specialist plays a critical role in supporting cost management, financial forecasting, and project performance tracking across capital construction projects. This position works closely with project managers, construction teams, and program leadership to ensure accurate budgeting, cost analysis, and reporting while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the accuracy and integrity of project budgets, forecasts, and financial dataCollaborate with Project and Construction Managers to prepare project documentation and funding requestsParticipate in monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) reviews and provide variance analysisManage Estimates to Complete (ETCs) and support alignment with financial objectivesAnalyze cost trends, risks, and exposures; contribute to mitigation strategiesPerform reconciliation of budgets and costs to ensure accurate reportingMonitor project cost performance and compare forecasts vs. actualsSupport budget reviews across multiple funding sourcesAssess schedule impacts on project costs and analyze variancesPrepare financial reports and provide insights on risks and performanceReview staffing plans and recommend cost optimization strategiesAssist with contract documentation, change orders, and budget adjustmentsEnsure compliance with cost management policies and proceduresGenerate reports using systems such as Proliance, Deltek Costpoint, and Microsoft Office toolsServe as a key contact for financial data requestsSupport financial processes including requisitions, amendments, and closeoutsCollaborate with PMO teams to ensure accurate project dashboardsOversee payment application reviews for accuracy and complianceSupport data collection and updates for project forecasts and budgetsContribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiativesMinimum Qualifications5–10 years of experience in project controls within a construction programBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field(or additional relevant experience in lieu of degree)Experience across the full project lifecycleStrong knowledge of cost management, scheduling, forecasting, earned value, and risk analysisExcellent communication and data presentation skillsAbility to adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentPreferred QualificationsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with Proliance, Deltek Costpoint, or similar systemsExperience supporting large capital programs or educational facilitiesBenefits401(k) retirement planComprehensive Health Insurance (medical, dental, and vision)Paid Time Off for personal and vacation daysEqual Opportunity ProviderThe OptiMinds Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
