Learn more about our products and history at TextronSystems.com.About This RoleTextron Systems is looking for a part time Associate Hardware Designer to support our uncrewed military product lines such as Aerosonde, Common Unmanned Surface Vessel, and Ripsaw. You will be responsible for creating and checking technical content and data packages for components, sub-assemblies and top-level assemblies, payloads, and support equipment. You will receive tasks from Senior Designers and Engineers, including development of electro-mechanical devices and equipment, and the creation and checking of engineering documentation to support production and technical data packages (concepts, layouts, drawings, 3D models, parts lists, Engineering Change Notices, ECNs, vendor parts, etc.) in compliance with Military, ASME, and Company standards and process guides. The applicant will be expected to quickly develop skills necessary for utilization of company tools (NX2026, Solidworks 2020, Matrix and JIRA). This is a temporary role intended for individuals currently enrolled in a technical degree program or equivalent, to provide hands-on experience and exposure to real-world projects while completing academic studies.ResponsibilitiesCreation of mechanical solid models from conceptual sketches, specification sheets and verbal directionReceive, create, and record JIRA tickets for tracking assignmentsTranslation of engineering requirements to source and vendor control documentationCataloging of vendor and supplier-controlled components, models, and specificationsRelease of specifications, drawings, and ECNs within the eMATRIX systemInterface with Product engineers, Manufacturing engineers and Machinists to produce accurate product representations and incorporate design for manufacturability feedbackParticipate in design review meetingsPerform tolerance calculations ("tolerance stacks") of detail parts and sub-assembliesDevelopment of component and subassembly drawings to ASME Y14 standards, inclusive of all planforms, sectional and isometric views, notes and GD&TGeneration of production drawings for multiple manufacturing methods; including machining, sheet metal forming and weldmentsGeneration of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams from sketches, drawings, datasheets, and verbal directionProduce engineering Bills of Materials in the eMATRIX system in concert with product definition releaseChecking of drawings per company and ASME Y14 standardsQualificationsWorking on Associates Degree in Drafting and Design Technology, or equivalent preferredExperience in a common solid modeling software package, with Siemen's NX preferredExperience as a mechanical designer, with commercial or military aircraft hardware design and integration experience preferredAbility to visualize components and assemblies in 3DKnowledge of drafting principlesFamiliarity with and ability to check drawings to ASME Y14 standardsWorking knowledge and use of ASME Y14.5-2009 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) applications and fundamentalsProficiency with Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, OutlookHighly organized and efficientAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingHow We CareAt Textron Systems, our talented people make us successful.
