Staff Accountant
Extraco Banks is seeking a detail‑oriented, experienced, and highly organized Staff Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle and support accurate financial reporting across multiple entities. This on‑site role, based daily at our Waco, Texas location, works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and finance leadership to ensure the integrity of financial records, maintain accounting processes, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts.The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail‑focused, and capable of working independently while contributing to a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.What You’ll DoAccounting & Financial ManagementManage the full accounting cycle for assigned entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including vendor invoice processing, customer invoicing, and proper expense and inventory coding.Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card reconciliations.Execute the month‑end close process and prepare audit‑ready financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.Budgeting & ForecastingSupport the preparation of the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.Perform variance analysis between actual results and budget/forecast and communicate insights to leadership.Monitor financial trends and identify potential risks and opportunities.Reporting & ComplianceSupport the CFO in maintaining the integrity of accounting records and financial reporting for multiple entities.Prepare documentation and provide support for external audits.Develop and maintain ad hoc financial reports to support business needs.Process Improvement & EfficiencyIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and enhance reporting efficiency.Strengthen internal controls and ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within accounting and financial processes.Collaboration & SupportCommunicate effectively with senior management, external CPAs, auditors, and other professionals.Support special projects and finance‑related initiatives as assigned.Adapt to evolving business needs and priorities in a dynamic environment.Required QualificationsWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredCPA Preferred, But Not Required5+ years of full‑cycle accounting or comprehensive bookkeeping experienceExperience with general ledger accounting, AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial reportingExperience with budgeting and forecasting processesPreferred ExperienceExperience working with multiple entitiesExperience supporting external auditsExperience in a fast‑paced or complex business environmentRequired Skills & AbilitiesStrong proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting softwareAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsStrong understanding of GAAP and financial statementsExcellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to research and resolve accounting issues effectivelyProcess improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracyHigh level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential informationCommitment to long‑term career growth and organizational successWhy Extraco?Extraco Banks is committed to delivering strong financial performance while investing in our people and communities.
