Community Development Clerk

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate maintains all Planning and Building files, and coordinates with the contracted City Planner and Building Official. This position also has shared responsibility for front counter cashier, reception duties, and backup secretarial services for utilities and other departments. This position requires independent judgment, interpretation and analysis, and interaction with the public daily. Essential Job Functions - Tracks all development activities and maintains Planning and Building files. - Provide clerical duties and coordinate applications involving the issuance of building and other permits. - Utilize State of Oregon ePermitting system for processing of building permit applications and payments. - Tracks, documents, and coordinates development review for Building code, Fire code and Zoning and Development ordinance enforcement activities. - Composes and prepares correspondence, reports, memos, ordinances, resolutions, agendas and other documents related to planning as directed or necessary. - Acts as primary point of contact for planning and building issues for the City. - Identifies appropriate recipients of land-use documents, prepares and distributes meeting notices and agendas, attends Planning Commission meetings and prepare minutes. - Prepares payment for Building Official services and State of Oregon fees. Skills - Ability to work well with the public. - Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks. - Skill in operation of computers, 10-key, cash register, multi-line phone skills and other standard office machines. - Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet time deadlines. - Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive material. - Experience in permit processing, plan review or Certified Plans Examiner is preferred.
