Keep reading.The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming, in-process, and finished materials to ensure products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and internal quality standards. This role supports manufacturing quality by performing dimensional inspections, documenting results, identifying nonconformances, and participating in corrective action efforts.This position requires strong technical inspection knowledge and prior experience in a manufacturing quality environment. The Quality Inspector is also expected to provide practical input on inspection methods, quality processes, and equipment needs as LAKO continues to strengthen its quality systems.Responsibilities And DutiesInspection of seal jaws, knives, rotary modules, and custom machined componentsPerform first article, in-process, and final inspections on manufactured parts and assembliesRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructionsUse precision measuring equipment including:CalipersMicrometersHeight gaugesBore gaugesThread gaugesOptical comparatorsCoordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)Surface Roughness Tester (Profilometer)Other inspection tools as requiredVerify dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and material requirements against specificationsDocument inspection results accurately in inspection reports, check sheets, and quality recordsIdentify nonconforming materials or products and initiate proper containment proceduresCommunicate quality issues to supervisors, machinists, programmers, and engineering staffAssist with root cause investigation and corrective action activitiesSupport calibration tracking of measuring instruments as assignedReview incoming materials for conformance when requiredMaintain organized quality documentation and traceability recordsParticipate in internal audits, continuous improvement efforts, and quality meetingsAssist in maintaining compliance with customer quality requirements and company proceduresFollow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policiesNon-Essential FunctionsOpportunity to acquire an operator fork trucks license, or other material handling equipment, to remove and return components and/or finished goods from warehouse locations.EducationHigh school diploma or GED requiredTechnical training, vocational coursework, or certification in quality inspection, machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferredQualifications, Skills, And CompetenciesMust be 18yo or older.1-3 years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of inspection techniques and the use of measurement equipment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and perform dimensional measurements to ensure products meet specifications.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others.Strong analytical and mathematical skills.Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently to complete projects on schedule.Willingness to learn and grow with increased responsibility.Experience with ERP or quality documentation systemsFamiliarity with inspection reporting software or digital quality recordsBasic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for dimensional reporting and documentationExperience working within a formal Quality Management System (ISO preferred)Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workdayAbility to sit intermittently while completing inspections, documentation, or reportingFrequent use of hands and fingers to handle parts and operate precision measuring instrumentsAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessaryAbility to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and move around machinery and workstations as neededVisual ability to inspect small details, detect defects, and accurately read measuring instruments and technical documentsAbility to distinguish color, surface finish differences, and material irregularities when inspecting partsAbility to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environmentAbility to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, moving equipment, and standard shop conditionsWhat’s in it for you?There's no monopoly on good ideas or limits to how far you can advance with our team.
