Purpose of the position: This position focuses on the staffing process, including the hiring, training, coaching and termination of the workforce. When an employee is to be terminated, the HR Specialist conducts exit interviews and processes requisite paperwork for the termination. The HR Specialist will also be responsible for the enrollment of Medical/Dental benefits and will serve as payroll processing back-up. This person will play a key role on second shift working closely with supervisors for disciplinary, training and on boarding issues. This position will continue to assist the head of HR in day-to-day HR Department duties by performing a variety of administrative activities requiring the exercise of initiative and independent judgement. This is a position that performs professional level work and has definitive responsibilities within specific HR program area(s). Flexibility to work off shifts as needed is required.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in HR/Organizational Behavior or related field of study.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Human Resources role providing and/or coordinating services in HR.
Must be Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Expertise in HR policies and procedures
Strong knowledge of hiring practices
Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations
Minimum 2 years' Payroll processing experience.
Solid knowledge of labor legislation (state and federal labor laws).
Solid knowledge of EE benefit plans and leave administration (e.g FMLA)
Must have excellent communication skills.
Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
Must have excellent analytical skills.
Must have excellent multi-tasking skills.
Must be an excellent team player.
Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels within the organization and outside parties.
Must be efficient and prompt with all work activities and duties.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Shall be neat, tidy, organized and energetic.
Must be self motivated and have the ability to work with little or no supervision.
Must be able to work with and manage company confidential information.
Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends and off-shifts as needed.
Must be available for travel as needed (Air/Car).
Workers' Compensation knowledge a plus.
Cal/OSHA knowledge a plus.
Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
