Senior Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for implementing, supporting, and continuously improving virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup and recovery environments, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate is an automation-first engineer who can modernize traditional infrastructure management through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scalable automation. Other responsibilities include support for Windows server environments, NAS/SAN infrastructure, monitoring/observability platforms, and related core infrastructure servicesRoles & ResponsibilitiesOversee implementation and configuration of systems engineering projectsImplement and optimize virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V, containers, etc.)Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Salt.Automate provisioning, configuration, and administrative workflows via scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)Support and improve SAN/NAS environmentsConduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and forecastingRecommend immediate-impact improvementsConduct formal presentations on technology platforms and systemsAssist in troubleshooting system issues and provide infrastructure‑level recommendationsDevelop and/or contribute to and review user-related documentation on IT services, support standards and security policies as developed by technical support staff; assist with the preparation and maintenance of documentation for system operations, services, policies, and procedures.Serve as high-level escalation for multi‑layered technical problemsMentor and support engineers through training and knowledge sharingRepresent CyrusOne in a professional manner while interacting with customers, vendors and partnersMinimum RequirementsProven experience with complex softwareStrong understanding of troubleshooting techniques.Strong project management skills.Mature organization and time management skills.Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.Accomplishes tasks with minimal supervision.Some travel requiredHighly organized multi-tasking abilitiesAbility to direct projects effectively to find an efficient solution whileExperience/SkillsMinimum 5-7 years experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration in an enterprise environmentStrong data center experience preferredProven experience with IaC concepts and automation toolsExpert-level scripting skillsExtensive hands-on experience managing virtualization platformsHands-on experience with SAN/NAS storage technologies and conceptsDeep understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs).Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and hybrid cloud modelsStrong knowledge of security best practices in an infrastructure context (patch management, vulnerability remediation, access controls)Proven experience with complex softwareEducationBachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent technical work experienceCertificationsNoneExperience/Skills: 5-7+ years, senior-level IT experience in a high tech, data center environment or 8 years of technical experienceEducation: Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent technical work experienceCertifications: NoneCyrusOne is an equal opportunity employer.
