Co-Op / Intern R&D Embedded Controls Engineer

The Co-op program at Fulton is a great opportunity for students to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain experience. Fulton touches many aspects of engineering, from combustion technology to electrical systems to heat transfer to turbomachinery. The R&D Embedded Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems that automate and optimize boiler processes. This role involves creating software to interface with hardware such as PLCs, microcontrollers, and sensors, as well as developing control algorithms to regulate system behavior. The engineer ensures that all components work together seamlessly, performs testing and debugging, and integrates software with electrical and mechanical systems. Additionally, they collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards. ACCOUNTABILITIES:Reviewing requirements and specificationsResearching novel solutions to existing issuesWriting and debugging code in C for embedded control systemsIntegrating application software with boiler hardwareWriting technical documentation. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience):Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Control/Automation Systems Engineering, or relatedStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCourses focused on C/C++ programming, AC/DC Circuits, Microcontrollers DEMONSTRATED CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:Communication - Ability to ensure information is passed on to others who should be kept informed.
