Mechanical Engineering Manager
Overview
In this role you lead a mechanical engineering team to deliver manufacturable, high-quality product solutions. You partner with cross-functional teams to drive design to production, mentoring engineers and advancing best practices. You’ll tackle design controls, tolerances, and DFMs while managing schedules, budgets, and risk. The position offers hands-on technical leadership within a manufacturing-focused environment and meaningful impact on product performance and cost.

ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, setting priorities and guiding professional growthOversee product development from concept to production ensuring cost, function, and manufacturability targets are metManage CAD workflows and standards using SolidWorks and DraftSightCollaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teams to transition designs to production and address issuesDefine and enforce design controls, DFM, GD&T, and tolerance practicesPlan and manage project schedules, resources, budgets, and risk mitigationCoordinate prototyping, testing, and validation and iterate designs based on resultsEngage with suppliers and contract manufacturers for component selection and specificationsDrive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and adoption of engineering best practicesEnsure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company processes
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters preferred7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with proven product development backgroundStrong CAD proficiency with SolidWorks and DraftSight including modeling, assemblies, and drawingsExperience with manufacturing processes, DFMs, prototyping, and supplier collaborationSolid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, and mechanical testing methodsProject management experience including schedules and budgets; familiarity with Agile or stage-gate is a plusExcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with mentoring experiencePreferred certifications: PE or PMP; experience with PLM systems and quality standards (ISO, AS9100)communicationinterpersonal skillsproblem-solvingSolidWorksDraftSightGD&T
