This role serves as a proactive strategic partner focused on leveraging the contract to maximize profitability for each Business Unit, and ensuring that all financial reporting is consistent, accurate and timely. They anticipate risks and seek to proactively minimize the impact of these risks and provide leadership and mentorship to the rest of the accounting team. Analyzes Business Unit Financial Statement reports Work In Progress schedule detailing project risks and related financial statement impacts. Actively works with project managers and participates in monthly financial project status (ECAC) review. Participates in final ECAC to ensure project is ready for financial closeout in the accounting system. Participates in contract review process offering strategic recommendations to maximize profitability and mitigate risk. Participates in project handoff from sales team to construction team, communicates billing necessities to project team, and facilitates accounting role/responsibility to project team. Reviews and strategizes with team on responses to all project audits to maximize profitability and minimize risks. Communicates to project team, and Business Group Leaders for any late paying projects, or at-risk accounts. Actively reviews project COP log and strategizes with project team to mitigate risk. Actively reviews project CPM, 3/6 week look ahead, labor projections – is sensitive to project changes that will impact budgets, and billings. Manages project compliance with assistance from the Enterprise Compliance Specialist. Actively works with the Finance Team to develop, review and update Standard Operating Procedures. Provides Leadership/Mentorship for the Project Accountants and Assistant PA’s through actively involving them in discussions and training that foster growth and development. Assist with other duties throughout the Project Accounting team as needed Accountabilities & KPIs Net over/under billings Average Days Sales Outstanding Consistency in billings Consistency in project setup The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience). Qualifications Demonstrated experience in the areas mentioned above, having successfully performed the project accountant duties for more than 5 years. An understanding of GAAP and the ability to create and understand Business Unit financial statements Familiarity with contract language and able to strategize on using the contract as a tool to maximize profitability. A detailed understanding of construction industry terms. Treats internal and external partners with strong customer service. Exceptional organization and administrative skills. High level of initiative and a desire and ability to grow and learn quickly. Strong computer skills, especially with Excel and MS Office. Ability to navigate databases, enterprise systems and online content with ease. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting software is preferable.
