Lifeguard

Lifeguard PositionMonitor and supervise the pool facilities, enforcing policies and procedures. Essential job functions include monitoring and enforcing pool rules and policies, keeping the facility clean and organized, knowing the facility's emergency action plan, performing life saving duties when needed, answering patrons' questions, assisting with opening and closing the facility, attending all scheduled meetings, maintaining physical fitness, responding to medical emergencies, providing customer service, and assisting with the general maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms. Pay rates are $14.00 an hour. Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities must include good oral and written communication skills, quality people skills, knowledge of the school's pool rules and policies, the ability to adapt to emergency situations, and the ability to swim. Physical and mental demands include the ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry 25 pounds, work at a desk or in meetings, see for reading purposes, communicate clearly, operate job-related equipment, and reach in all directions. License/registration/certification includes being currently certified as a lifeguard with a nationally recognized association and currently CPR & First Aid certified. Education requires a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience is preferred.
