Maintenance Worker
Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports the overall upkeep, repair, and operation of campus facilities and grounds. This position performs a variety of general maintenance duties, assists skilled trades staff as needed, and helps ensure campus spaces remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to customer service and safety. ResponsibilitiesReceives written and oral work assignments from Supervisor and obtains necessary tools and supplies from the maintenance shop.Performs minor repairs to building fixtures such as minor plumbing and electrical repairs, lightbulb changes and light carpentry as required.Performs HVAC air filters changes, lubrication and belt changes as directed by Supervisor.Cleans up work area when done.Notifies Director/Assistant Superintendent of repair supplies and materials needs.Moves furniture, or other college-related property as needed.Performs other maintenance, custodial and grounds functions as assigned.May be designated to specialize in such functions as Pool Operator responsible for maintaining chemical levels and checking automatic settings.May assist tradespersons where assistance is needed.Performs other college-related duties as required by the Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Director of Facilities, and the Executive Director of Facilities. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to comprehend oral and written instructionsWillingness to wear personal protective equipment as needed and to practice safety precautions appropriatelySatisfactory work record and attendanceValid State driver's license and the ability to operate college vehicles CHARACTERISTICS PREFERRED:Prior experience or aptitude for mechanical work acquired from on the job training or vocational schoolPeople skills and basic computer skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Very heavy work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or an excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
