Pay: $12-16Hours: Tues Thurs 2-7 / Mon Wed Fri 9:30-4:30 *hours subject to change* Job OverviewWesley Shelter Inc. is the domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking response agency in Wilson County. Wesley Shelter has been serving the Wilson community through its many programs since 1983. Services include: 24-Hour Crisis Line, Domestic and Sexual Violence Response, The Edward Y.C. Thorne Safe House, Legal Services, Therapy, Children's Programs, Outreach Services, Community Education, Prevention Services, The Clothes Line and more. Position Summary:The Childcare Worker provides trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care for children ages 0–12 while their non-offending caregivers and older youth engage in supportive services through the HEAL Project. This role is essential in removing access barriers to care and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment where children feel secure and supported. The Childcare Worker will work closely with the Child and Youth Case Manager/Victim Advocate and Youth Services Coordinator to support holistic, wraparound services that foster safety, healing, and stability for each child and family.DutiesProvide direct supervision and compassionate care to children ages 0–12 in on-site childcare settings during parent/caregiver appointments, support groups, and service sessions.Maintain a safe, welcoming, and structured environment that reflects trauma-informed practices and prioritizes children’s emotional and physical well-being.Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional development, creativity, and play-based learning.Identify and report any safety concerns, behavioral changes, or needs to the Youth Services Coordinator or Case Manager.Maintain accurate attendance logs, incident reports, and daily observations.Collaborate with the multidisciplinary HEAL team to support seamless care coordination for families.Assist in maintaining a clean, sanitized, and organized childcare space that reflects dignity and respect for all children.Participate in staff training and ongoing professional development related to trauma-informed care, mandated reporting, and child development.Qualifications:Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or Child Development preferred.Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in a supervised setting such as childcare, preschool, after-school, or social service programs.Education:Associate (Required)Experience:Childcare in Supervised Setting: 2 years (Required)Work Location: In person
