STAFF ACCOUNTANTPosition SummaryThe Staff Accountant provides essential accounting support by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial data, supporting acquisitions and audits, and assisting with lender reporting. Key responsibilities include journal entry preparation, balance sheet and P&L reconciliation, and the review of financial statements. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies are critical for success in this role. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and supporting the company’s reporting and compliance efforts.Essential DutiesFinancial Reporting & AnalysisPrepare month-end and daily journal entries, along with comprehensive month-end reports. Analyze balance sheet and profit & loss (P&L) accounts to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, invoice coding, documents, and reports. Audit, Compliance & ReconciliationAssist in the preparation of year-end audit and tax work papers. Prepare monthly accounting work papers and ensure proper documentation. Reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Ensure all month-end processes are followed and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Acquisitions, Dispositions & Special ProjectsSupport acquisition and disposition reviews by preparing relevant financial data. Participate in special projects and due diligence efforts as needed. Additional ResponsibilitiesMay be required to work additional hours during peak periods to meet reporting deadlines. Must be goal oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Tools & SystemsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Yardi experience preferred but not required.
