We are seeking an experienced Azure SQL Database Administrator with strong expertise in cloud database management, production support, performance tuning, and disaster recovery. The primary focus of this role is administering Azure SQL environments while ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance.Key Responsibilities
Azure SQL AdministrationManage and support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and related Azure cloud database servicesMonitor performance, workload, and resource utilization using Azure Monitor, Query Store, and other native Azure toolsImplement Azure security best practices, including firewalls, encryption, auditing, and role-based access control (RBAC)Manage automated backups, geo-replication, failovers, and long-term retention policiesSupport deployments, schema changes, and data migrations within Azure environmentsProduction Support & MonitoringProvide 24/7 production support on a rotational basisConduct daily health checks and proactively identify performance or capacity issuesMonitor database availability, integrity, and performance using industry-standard toolsBackup, Recovery & FailoverExecute and manage database backup and restore operationsParticipate in business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and documentationEnsure compliance with defined RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) targetsDatabase MaintenanceApply patches, updates, and security fixesPerform data refreshes, cloning, environment setup, and migrationsManage users, permissions, and database security policiesPerformance TuningAnalyze and optimize slow-running queries and database workloadsOptimize indexing strategies and database configurationsCollaborate with development and application teams to improve performanceIncident & Problem ManagementRespond to incidents within defined SLAs and perform root cause analysis (RCA)Document issues, resolutions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articlesChange & Release SupportSupport releases, database updates, and change requestsParticipate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes and follow established change management protocolsDesirable SkillsAzure Data FactorySQL Server Database AdministrationExperience Required
