At Excelitas Technologies you are how we EXCEL.Excelitas Boulder is offering optical manufacturing apprenticeships in collaboration with federal, state, and local government to strengthen Colorado’s photonics industry. The apprenticeship will consist of three years of work experience and a concurrent associate degree in the Optical Technologies Program at Front Range Community College.The Optics Manufacturing Technician Apprentice will produce and inspect precision optical components, apply optical coatings, and assemble optical systems that are used in a broad range of applications, including defense, homeland security, aerospace, biomedical equipment, microlithography, digital displays, alternate energy production, and nanotechnology. While learning on-the-job manufacturing skills, apprentices will also explore the theory and science of/behind the Fabrication of Precision Optics, Metrology of Optics Systems, Fundamentals of Light & Lasers, and Laboratory Operations at Front Range Community College.Main ResponsibilitiesObserve all environmental, health, & safety, and academic requirements of Excelitas and FRCCEngage in learning the range of technical processes that are performed during the manufacturing of our productsIntegrate feedback and demonstrate a mindset of continual growthTake the initiative to develop a broad technical skill setBuild professional relationships with colleagues and make a lasting impression within the organizationMaintain the necessary GPA to successfully complete Optical Technologies Program associate degreeMust have good communication skillsMust be able to clearly see small optical parts and lift 25lbsPerforms other duties as assigned.RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredFamiliarity with Microsoft Excel and Word preferredGood time management, critical and interpersonal skillsExcellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting abilitiesA growth mindset and passion for learningTaking required credit classes to fulfill academic requirementsBenefits start day 1: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, PAID Maternity/Paternity leave, Tuition Reimbursement, Long-term and Short-term disability.Pay: $20 an hourEqual Opportunity/Affirmative Action EmployerMinorities/Females/Disability/Gender Identity/Sexual OrientationExcelitas is seeking leaders and innovators to join our global team!
