RN Surgery Staff (PT) W/ Rotating CallProvides direct care to surgical patients with primary emphasis on the intra-operative period and responsibility for pre-operative assessment and post-operative evaluation while applying age-specific needs in the assessment, treatment, and/or care of patients. Possesses substantial knowledge, judgment, and skill based upon the principles of the biological, psychological, behavioral, and social sciences. Must take call on a rotating basis.Job Specific:Participates in the safety management and infection control programs.Performs, supervises, and/or directs the nursing care of the patient by performing the duties of the circulating nurse based upon hospital policies/procedures and the AORN Standards.Directs and/or assists, as necessary, with the cleaning, sterilization, and storage of instruments, equipment and supplies.Administers medications, starts intravenous infusions, and assists anesthesia personnel as needed.Assists with the orientation of new personnel.Takes call as assigned.Hospital:Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.Other Duties As Assigned:Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Minimum RequirementsEducational Requirements:Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursingExperience:Preferred: At least six (6) months of previous operating room experienceLicensure / Certification Requirements:Required: Currently registered with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners Basic Life Support Certification - BLSCitizens Medical Center is a not-for-profit, community hospital known for compassionate patient care, clinical expertise, and bringing advanced medical services to the South Texas region since 1956.
