Job Title: Apparel Designer/Fashion DesignerLocation: New York, NYDuration: 3 Months ContractThe Assistant Designer – Intimates supports the design and development of seasonal collections for Aéropostale. This role partners closely with the Designer and cross-functional teams to deliver trend-driven, high-quality products aligned with brand vision and timelines. It’s ideal for a creative, detail-oriented professional looking to grow in a fast-paced apparel environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Creative SupportResearch fashion trends, competitive brands, and market insights relevant to the target customerShop the market to stay updated on styles, colors, fabrics, and silhouettesCreate and maintain mood boards, inspiration boards, and seasonal trend researchSupport the development of girls’ intimates collectionsCreate sketches and develop technical flats using Adobe IllustratorPrepare and maintain design decks, CAD presentations, and line sheetsCollaborate with CAD teams to develop prints and patternsManage technical design packages within PLM systemsProduct Development & ExecutionParticipate in bi-weekly fit sessionsAssist in approvals (strike-offs, lab dips, etc.)Partner with Merchandising and Product Development teams to meet quality and cost targetsTrack deadlines aligned with the corporate calendarSupport day-to-day design operations and organizationEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree preferred1–2 years of experience in apparel design or a related fieldSkillsStrong technical sketching and flat design skillsProficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD toolsExcellent organization and time managementStrong communication skillsBasic experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Vizcom for design ideation
