P&C Field Technician III

We’re looking for a Field Service Technician III with strong testing and troubleshooting experience who are ready to take on challenging fieldwork across the country. In this hands-on role, you’ll test, maintain, and commission low to high-voltage systems at power plants, hydroelectric dams, and other industrial sites. You’ll work with relays, transformers, breakers, SCADA systems, and more—bringing reliable energy solutions to life. This is a great opportunity to develop technical skills and grow with a fast-paced, mission-driven team.What You’ll DoTest, maintain, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage systems (480V–600kV), including breakers, relays, switchgear, cables, and transformersRun standard field tests (TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot)Test relays (electromechanical and solid-state) with minimal supervisionTroubleshoot control circuits, relay logic, and protection schemesFunction check control panels, trip/alarm circuits, and SCADA signal integrityRead and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and one-line diagramsKeep accurate reports, logs, and equipment calibration recordsPrevious experience working in data centers, commercial and industrial settings The Experience We’re Looking For3–5 years of field experience testing, maintaining, and commissioning power systems up to 500kVExperience with megohmmeters, TTRs, contact resistance testers, and insulation testersFamiliarity with PowerDB or similar test documentation softwareStrong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and field safety standardsAble to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagramsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Organized, safety-conscious, and able to manage time and priorities independentlyAdditional RequirementsFlexible for overtime, weekends, holidays, and night work.Able to travel frequently (75% with overnight stays as needed)Valid driver’s license Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug testsLegally authorized to work in the United StatesBonus Points ForNETA Level II or higher certification Apparatus (electrical MV, LV equipment testing, or NETA testing experience) An associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering Why Join RMS EnergyWe’re not just another power services company.
