Staff Backend Engineer

About this role What we're looking for? We need a Staff Backend Engineer with 8+ years of backend engineering experience, strong CS fundamentals, and deep knowledge of backend technologies. You should be comfortable architecting and scaling backend systems to support millions of users and transactions, and have a track record of leading complex technical projects across multiple teams. Bonus points if you have experience in crypto or financial systems, and a background in large-scale data ingestion and processing. What you'll do: Architect and scale backend systems to support millions of users and transactions efficiently. Lead and drive critical technical projects, ensuring long-term scalability, performance, and reliability. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other teams to align technical execution with business objectives. Design and optimize complex data processing pipelines, distributed systems, and APIs. Mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical excellence and best practices across the team. Continuously improve system performance, observability, and maintainability. Tech stack Python, Flask, GraphQL, Postgres, BigTable, Redis, Python RQ, GCP, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Docker, Pub/Sub, Datadog, PagerDuty Seniority 5 -​ 12 years of experience of backend engineering experience,​ ideally with a focus on technical leadership and cross-​team project ownership. Work experience Experience scaling backend systems for millions of users. Track record of leading complex technical projects. Experience with large-​scale data ingestion and processing. Full-​stack experience,​ understanding end-​to-​end system design.
